Barras in Toronto
Here, Sheumas shows the audience his deep bass voice as Jamie waits for them to finish the vocals.

After we traveled down the
Coaltown Road, Stewart stepped up to the mic and asked if everyone was ready to join in the singing. Someone yelled, "After I'm finished dessert!"

"Wait till she's finished dessert," he instructed as a waitress walked by with a tray. "

Oh! More dessert! Hey! We're from Cape Breton, we'll share!"  Stewart announced as he eyed the sweet treats that were going by the stage. Then he treated us to a great version of
Nancy-O.
Ryan shows  us a talent I didn't know he had! Who knew he played bodhran? Our table was directly in front of him and we tried not to bug him too much.

My current favorite Barras song from their album, "All At Once", is 1000 Miles. Lucy said it was shared with them during an evening they spent with David Francey. I'm sure glad they spent that evening! The interweaving of harmonies in this song is especially delicious. And Lucy's voice was wonderfully clear.

And in my voice range, too! And then Ryan once again pulled out another instrument.

But the intro for the next song was  given by Boyd, the other one of the younger siblings who plays fiddle and guitar and drum. It might not be a good idea to have him intro songs. He started in on some juicy tales about being on a tour bus with his siblings.
He claims he's learned a lot about his older siblings traveling on the tour bus. And he added that it was a thrill to be traveling on a tour bus instead of driving around in a van. But the feeling of privilege  quickly disappeared when the bus driver gave instructions on using the toilet. "Nothing but liquids in the washroom!"

Boyd went on and I was too busy looking at him and laughing to see what the reactions of the rest of the band were. "Well, I was fine with that rule until I had to go. It's not a good idea to stand up in the washroom of a moving bus so you sit down. I'm not used to sitting down in the washroom. Whenever I do sit, my brain goes into automatic... it was a real problem, the sitting down. It turned out all right though," he said to a laughing audience. "I've lots more stories. Next gig, I'll tell you some other things!"

Haven't Got a Care was next. Maybe that's why they let Boyd go on and on - He hadn't got a care. LOL!
Boyd hasn't got a care!
