After Captain Kidd met his demise, they went immediately into Old Black Rum! I had so much fun I forgot to take any photos! But ending the first half with that song serves to make everyone want more. Smart!
At intermission, I went over to chat a bit with Howard and Cheryl. I KNEW they'd be here for this one - it's in their home state! They introduced me to Gordon and Dolly and their friends, all from Newfoundland. It was their first time seeing GBS! The friends have a house in Ferryland, the site of one of my favorite lighthouses. They all said they had no idea GBS was this big down here and they were surprised at the people singing and dancing along with the Newfoundland tunes. "They put on quite a show! They did us proud. They represent Newfoundland very well." commented Gordon and Dolly. Helen was busying herself, checking out the OKPers sitting behind us. No doubt at all where the presale tickets were!
After chatting with Howard, I said hello to Lynda and then went out to the merch table to deliver a package for one of the b'ys to Glenn. He was very gracious about taking it back and told me afterwards that it had been delivered. A few fans gathered around the merch table trying to buy the mermaid shirts, but they were sooooo small! They only had two tour shirts left in XXL, Glenn informed us. Wow! I guess they are raking the merch money in these days.
The police were still out in force, keeping an eye on us out-of-hand GBS fans in the lobby. I asked two of them point-blank about how they enjoyed the show so far. They were non-commital as only police officers can be. Stoic. Resolute. Stalwart, even! Definitely out of place at a GBS show!
The lights blinked on and off and I was one of the last ones to sit down. I had to find my way in the dark as the dit dit dit dah dah dah dit dit dit of Ordinary Day came on. What a way to start us going again! |
