Chris Trapper opened for GBS. His whole extended family was watching from the roof of the bar. He was very mellow and didn’t look comfortable at all. I thought that was weird since he’s played before GBS fans before. He seemed really nervous before his hometown crowd and it didn’t come off well. The Amherst High School song was great as were the Pushstars songs he sang.
GBS at D'arcy McGee's
Buffalo, NY 2003
While we waited for GBS, a bunch of people commented on my Long Island Maritime Museum GBS shirt. That HAS to be the coolest GBS swag ever. I thank Doug Shaw and Jen for that experience two years ago.
He didn’t really try to connect too much with the audience, though. I was disappointed. I have heard him much better than that. I really did enjoy “Any Old Town” "Boston Girls" and “Minnesota”. I didn’t hear anyone else singing along with me though. Both Murray and Kris came out to watch Chris Trapper for a while. I caught Murray on film.
Patty, Mike (Mpulse) and Sandy posed for a photo before the show. I think they color-coordinated their outfits and Mike's hair!
Bob's Arsenal is impressive! Shakers, bouzouki, accordions, fiddle... The only thing that didn't get in the photo is the whistle collection! Nice to see the well-resined fiddle. Mine looks like that too with all the resin powder on it!

By the time GBS ran onto the stage, the audience was stoked, ready to rock! Buffalo just loves GBS!
Donkey Riding opened with the fog machine in full tilt and blowing right across Kris’ drum kit. Nice to hear 4-part harmony again. Murray is finally allowing us to hear him. No shorts in sight, but Alan had one of my favorite shirts on – that Mexican striped shirt, Sean started the evening in a Carbon Leaf sweatshirt and jeans but the sweatshirt came off about 3 songs into the set to reveal “FREE NFLD.” And Bob, the black-garmented one, wore his shades all evening. Murray had on a lovely small-print blue shirt with a long sleeve darker shirt underneath.
When I’m Up followed closely behind, with Bob’s fiddle sounding great and Alan and Sean in great voice.
More show!
