GBS in Dewey Beach
I'm sorry I didn't catch the title of the next song. She Goes (?) It was about a dumb argument he had with a former girlfriend over who would last longer as a band, U2 or Depeche Mode. He commented that he won! LOL!

After that came my current favorite Chris Trapper song - I Wish I Was Cool, an "anti-tribute song" to his High School class. The video for this one is fantastic. They have it on You Tube
">I Wish I was Cool
Hopefully going out for this gig and the Martha's Vineyard gig was a good thing for him and collected a bunch of fans.

One of his songs was in the movie August Rush and was submitted but not accepted to be considered for an Oscar.  So he called it his Oscar-reject song.  I think it was called
This Time.

After that he brought out his smallest weapon, a ukulele and performed a song he had written for his parents' 50th wedding anniversary. He claimed that they had not "left the kitchen table in Buffalo in 50 years!" It was a gentle song, about no matter where you go with your lover, it's home. Vic and I really identified with that. Apparently our appreciation showed and Helen snapped our photo to show it.
After he ended the anniversary song, he began messing about with the ukulele and playing various classic rock 'n' roll riffs with it. It sounded almost ridiculous on the uke! "Doesn't quite work, does it?" Chris asked as he put it away.

Silvertown came next, a song about Boston. He had some superfast picking at the end. Whew! He made me tired with that one!

Another Boston song followed -
Boston Girls. Great song! It seemed like everyone in my section enjoyed it. Too bad some idiot yelled "Great Big Sea" during it.

He closed with a very unusual
Happy Birthday song, written in response to numerous requests to sing it in bars.  He called it a Chuck E. Cheese song and requested that we sing along and hug each other LOL!
Britt rapidly got the stage ready for GBS and we talked a bit with the people around us. Vic asked Helen to put the photo next to Alan's mic, which she did. Thanks Helen!
No banter as Alan immediately started to sing When I'm Up.  It might have been where I was standing - up front - but it seemed Alan's vocals were low, too. Or maybe I'm just getting deaf from too many nights next to speakers watching GBS. Needless to say, the audience was all singing along. I think we were louder than the band.
"This is the greatest rock and roll bar in the world!" yelled Alan, "Let's get it on!"
And the party began with the drum intro for Love Me Tonight. I looked around and there were a lot more people there at that point. I felt better for them. And even better when everyone began to clap along and sing "All together, you and me, a single note don't make a melody."

"There's only one song appropriate for this night," Alan announced and went into the "nah nahs" of
Consequence Free. Everyone was certainly singing along for THAT one! Kris was taking advantage of the rock & roll atmosphere and banging the heck out of the drums. I think he rarely gets to let go like that.
I was distressed that the lights were going to be red tonight. That makes for lousy photos when you are trying not to use a flash.  Alan and Sean had a bit of a clear yellow light on them but Murray, Bob and Kris were hopelessly red or barely visible tonight. And I had even brought extra batteries, unlike at the Folk Festival. Oh well, the best laid plans...

See the green behind Murray? It's a tree! I swear, sometimes I am so clueless! I didn't realize that the venue was mostly outside, except the part we were under. I had  wondered how they kept a tree alive in a dark rock & roll bar. There's really no hope for me I think. I wish I was cool! LOL!
Mr. McCann must have been on the beach earlier today because he was still in beach mode, coming out with flip flops.

Britt ran out to give instruments for
Paddy Murphy and they went right into it without much ado. I don't think Sean's mic was turned up loud enough cause I had trouble hearing him over the drums even though we were right in front of him. Of course, everyone in the bar was singing along, so I don't know how many noticed. I was surprised that Vic was still up front with me, as he doesn't enjoy loud bass or drums. Bob's accordion solo was great.
We spent the whole day at the beach!
