I went to watch Barry Canning at the Rising Stars Showcase at Mickey Quinn’s. I knew Missy would be there and I hadn’t seen her for a good long while, maybe a couple years. She talks about Barry a lot and I had never heard his music. I found her up front and center and had fun chatting with her. Also saw Ellen there from San Francisco and noticed Alan Doyle at the bar talking with some people. I didn’t bother him but was tickled to see him on his home turf. Barry invited Alan up to sing a few songs with him. Alan had co-written and produced some songs on the CD. I really like "Last Man Standing." I snapped some photos and was really glad to be there to see that. Boy, I’d seen Alan, Murray and Kris in one 5 hour period. Lucky me!

Matt Anderson came on after an hour of Barry Canning and wowed the place. I liked him even more the second time around. People came from all over the hotel to hear him during his set. There were more people there than there was when Barry was playing and he was supposed to be the most well known, I think. After Matt Anderson came Shanneyganock. They were great with Patrick Moran on the fiddle! That b’y can play! And sing! – I was happy to discover that HE is the one who sings “ I Had a Hat” on the Government Rams' CD. My Dad used to sing that song long ago to us kids.

After Shanneyganock was through with their set (they got an encore) I went back to find Ellen to talk to her again. Who should be at her table when I get there, but Murray Foster! Oh and Em, a chatter from the GBS OKP. Ellen motioned for me to sit down and we had a nice little chat with Murray about the new video and being in Las Vegas, where “there is no limit to fantasy.” They had fun in the 4-5 days they were there. We told Murray how much we are enjoying his being a part of the GBS family. We talked about "stuff" in general. He is just such a nice guy!
Shanneyganock played too.
