Snowmaggedon
February 5-6, 2010
The second biggest snowfall in recorded Philadelphia history fell on February 5th and 6th. It's a shame it was a weekend, we'd have had several days off from school. The wind howled, it snowed horizontally and there was even thundersnow in places, dumping 2-3 inches every hour. Hundreds of thousands down the Jersey Shore were without power. Here in Goshen, we had stocked up on necessities and we content to wait out the storm in relative comfort, despite the fact that the downstairs heater died as the storm hit.

But Vic is a survivor and is known for having "emergency" everything and we plugged in an extra heater and were good to go. We slept in comfort upstairs as the snow rapidly blocked the view from our little window in the roof. Sunrise was sketchy at best - this was the closest we came to seeing the sun for quite a few hours.
The first thing we noticed when we reluctantly emerged from our nice warm bed, was the next door neighbor's garage and our tree. Whoa! Some snow!
After that shock, we ventured down to the kitchen and were greeted by this view of  the green birdfeeder, which was wearing a hat - a gift from Mother Nature.
The Bird Cafe is open!
