We joined the thousands of other friends and family members trying to make it to the greeting areas. There was quite a crush of humanity getting off the T.
2007 Boston Marathon
Following the signs took us outside, down the street, around a building, back up the street, and into the family waiting area, set up according to alphabetical order of last name. Thank God she's an Armstrong! I was getting to the point I needed the cane to get around.
From left to right: Noemi, Chandra, Rob, Dora and Tom Tom and I had to call the rest of the family on the cell phone to locate them. We were the last to arrive. Finally I was able to congratulate Chandra and give her a well-deserved hug. She is someone special. One day, she will make her mark on the world, if she hasn't already. I took a photo of Chani and Rob and the family and then Noemi took the photo with me in it.
Many streets in the vicinity of Copley Square were closed and the T-stop too. We had to walk blocks to get to the next one. I was really feeling the walking but lucky for me I had the cane. I can't imagine how Chandra must have felt to walk 4 more blocks after running over 26 miles! She was a bit shocky I thnk, so exhausted, just wanting to be back at the house she was staying in.
Chandra and Rob and I got a seat on the T and another runner came on. Rob went to get up to give him his seat, but the man said, "Please don't get up, if I sit down, I'll never get up for days!"
So we all got off at Porter Square and I drove everyone to their cars/house and left for home. It had stopped raining and I had about 7 hours to go. Luckily, GBS accompanied me by way of CDs and Jim Fidler's Musaik CD. Great roadtrip music!! Well, hope you've enjoyed the whirlwind reviews. Gotta go rest up now for the next big roadtrip - Newfoundland in the summer!
