Terra Nova!
I gathered my things to leave, went backstage to get Jim and Lillian and found them chatting with two people he seemed to know. Turns out, it was his cousin Taryn and her hubby Keith who were camping in the Park that week! We arranged to meet them at their campsite and pick them up to go out on the town. On the way back to the parking lot, a woman called Lillian by her maiden name. We stopped to see who it was and she found herself face-to-face with a high school chum! The two of them had a great chat and then we were off to campsite 403 and then to Glovertown. Keith guided me out of the campsite area and back to the main road. I really appreciated his help as it was pitch dark.

Nothing was open in Glovertown at 11:30 PM except for Holloway’s Pub & Grub. Right across the street from the pub was the former home of Lillian’s best friend growing up. Coincidentally, as we walked into the bar, Bruce Springsteen’s
Your HomeTown came on the radio! It was further proof that Lillian was destined to have this job for the Park and we had been pre-destined to be there that weekend. Weird.

Wings, chips, beer and soda pop were ordered and we sang along with the deejay, who in turn sang with the Karaoke tunes and played the bass guitar. A guy who recognized Jim came over to the table and told Jim that he should be entertaining everyone on stage. I think Jim was happy to be noticed but equally happy he could relax and not worry about entertaining. In a little while, the room filled with dancers, two-stepping to various deejay-sung songs. Then came the karaoke part of the evening. Some of those people were pretty darn good! But I was not in the mood for the country songs they were singing. When the beer was gone with the wings, we went back to the cabin and I don’t know about Jim and Lillian, but I fell right to sleep!
Saturday, August 19th

Saturday dawned and I didn’t get up too early. But Lillian and Jim woke way before I did as she wanted to go out with the photographer to get some good Park shots, and an idea of everything the Park offers. The young man was only 18 years old, but took photos you wouldn't believe! A natuaral talent, for sure! By 10:30 AM they were done and could enjoy the rest of the day.

We had a good breakfast I wouldn’t have thought to eat a few years ago – beans and bacon on toast! Jim recommended it highly. It was definitely good. I haven't been steered wrong, food-wise, yet by Jim and Lillian. My kids think I've gotten quite daring where food is concerned. LOL!
After Lillian got home and breakfast was cleared, we set off for Sandy Cove Beach. I was looking forward to seeing a Newfoundland sand beach. I had never seen one up close and in person! We drove to the Eastport Peninsula and pulled up at a small parking lot at the end of a road.

There was a whale bone marking the entrance to a marker explaining the significance of the place, but what really caught my eye was the expanse of sand before me. Huge dunes slid down the cliff to the water and kids delighted in climbing them. Sunbathers lay on blankets while families frolicked in the water. There were some swimmers in the cove enjoying themselves. It was a delightfully warm day and the water was not as cool as I had expected.

Lillian and I dipped our tootsies in as Jim podcasted from the beach. He had a few tries to get the podcast right because Lillian and I kept talking when he wanted us to be quiet. There were a couple dogs on the beach, barking at the strangers. They didn’t appear to be having a good time and I wondered why their owners brought them. I was so nice to stand there and take in what sun there was and the warm winds.
