Heading home, I ruminated on my satisfaction with staying put. It was disconcerting to me. I usually leave no moss growing on my tires/shoes. Nothing resembling an answer came to my mind and I enjoyed the chance to eat delicious fish & chips and not think anymore at supper. Lindsay Ferguson had come over to record an interview with Jim and joined us for supper. I had missed Lindsay's CD release party last week as it was being held during the time I was in the air somewhere over Northeastern North America. Scampers has the best fish & chips as far as the Fidlers and I are concerned. I know it's fashionable to eat at Ches's or Leos, but I prefer Scampers' fish & chips with dressing and gravy. It's fish & chips heaven. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Back at the house, Lindsay messed about with the guitar a bit and Jim showed her the DADGAD tuning so popluar with folksingers. It amazes me each time I see him play with that tuning - one of two fingers suffice for most chords, and it sounds so full. It's a shame we all earn standard tuning first. Maybe more people would play if it were easier. Hmmmm. Something to ruminate on. I need to learn it first before I teach it to the kids though. Sandy invited Candace and I to lunch and a boat ride out from Quidi Vidi on Tuesday. Sounds like fun! Talked with Vic a bit on IRLP while they weren't recording and spent the rest of the evening listening to Lindsay and Jim's music and editing photos. Fell asleep to the music coming from below. What a pleasant lullaby!
Tuesday, August 14th 'Twas a fine day to visit Sandy and her dog Seamus at her downtown house. Candace and I were attacked by the puppy as soon as we arrived. More people to lick! Seamus is a Yorkie/Mini-Doberman mix. More Yorkie than anything else but the long legs of a Pinscher. A real cutie-pie! We sat on the back deck awaiting the arrival of Liz and getting to know each other better. What a view of the harbour from the deck! Wow! I could enjoy this each day!

Liz arrived fashonably late and we proceeded to devour a most delicious lunch. The salad was superb as was the fresh bread and packed-with-chicken pot pies. No one could leave the table at Sandy's claiming to be hungry! We didn't stick around too long because the boat was scheduled to leave Quidi Vidi at three o'clock. I called Jim and Lillian asking if they wanted to come, but they declined. So we headed over to Quidi Vidi. It was only the second time I had been there, the first time being 4 or 5 years ago and we didn't get out of the car then. It's hard to believe that this is in the heart of the city of St. John's!

As you can see from the photo to the right, the tide was out and that would not mean good news for us. The Captain explained that it would be impossible for us to make it through the narrow channel with this low tide that was lower than usual because of the phase of the moon. We had to wait an hour and a half and check back.
So we toured scenic Quidi Vidi and stopped in at the antiques store. Candace and I exited the store fairly quickly as it was crowded and my foot was bothering me. We sat for a while on the bench admiring the scenery and taking photos.
