Bound Down for Newfoundland
Tuesday, July 29th The sight that greeted us coming into Yarmouth Harbour is above. Isn't it gorgeous? We decided against getting up early for breakfast and opted for Tim Horton’s down the street from the Ferry Terminal. Turns out we needed all the time to get into our car. Talk about tight squeezes! Vic had to climb in the passenger window to get into the car. Some people couldn’t get into their cars until the row next to them had moved out. What a mess! We knew we weren’t “in Kansas anymore” When the bagpiper appeared in full regalia and the young man who was giving out Doers and Dreamers catalogs said, “Welcome to Yer-muth, Nooova Scooootia.” I cannot begin to approximate that wonderful accent!

We had to travel to Stacy’s house in the beautiful Annapolis Valley to drop off all the instruments Andi would take care of for the next two weeks until we were scheduled to go to the Gaelic College. We dropped off 3 violins and 3 bodhrans and sat and chatted for a bit with Stacy and Andi. Met the new kitten who is a nut for playing. We then continued on to Cape Breton – one of my favorite places in the whole wide world. I HAD to take a picture of this sign on the way to Cape Breton. Even though Vic argued about the claim (his GPS was with us in the car).
I knew we weren't in the States anymore when I saw this sign at a store across the way when we stopped for lunch.

We drove past Baddeck, my special town on the Island. If I ever win the Lottery, I will buy a lake-front house here and one in Flatrock, NFLD. I even took a chance on a house in Baddeck but I didn’t win. Every time I pass through the town where the lighthouse is, the scene is straight from a postcard. Don’t you agree? These photos were taken by my very own camera!

Which postcard would you send?
We ate at a very nice place in Baddeck called the Yellow Cello and I had my first order of Garlic Fingers on this trip. Statesiders might know them as White Pizza. The Yellow Cello has live entertainment each night and when the person isn’t performing you are likely to hear Jim Fidler, Shanneyganock, Rawlins Cross, the Barrra MacNeils, etc. Geez! I love this place. Dropped our bags at the Days Inn in Sydney and hunkered down for a good night’s rest.
