After the Songwriters Workshop was over, Lynda and Howard and Nancy sprinted over to the reserved seating section, which had just opened up to make sure our stuff was still there. No one had taken Howard’s blanket, unlike his stadium seat. I visited the port-o-potty since it was so hot and I’d been drinking water all through the two workshops. What an effort to go up the hill. My left foot is permanently pitched downward so it doesn’t bend to go up normally like everyone else. I have to literally walk on tiptoe to go uphill. YOU try it for any length of time! It’s not easy and it was a looooong hill. I vowed not to drink any more than was necessary to keep hydrated in the sun.
Lynda was great, offering to run around and bring back a late lunch for me so I wouldn’t have to go up the long hill once again. It wasn't long before the evening show was getting ready to begin. The first group up was totally composed of kids of folk festival campers or who brought their instruments with them. Several adults helped wth each section of instruments and the group of young kids learned three different songs/tunes from various countries around the world - the first being from Appalachia, the second a celtic? set and the third, a South African song known to us as The Lion Sleeps tonight.
They called themselves The Groove Band. |
