GBS @ SOPAC
Séan’s and Alan’s body language in the beginning of Long Lost Love was priceless. Séan turned to his right and sang to Alan, “I’d walk a hundred miles for you honey!” looking at him coquettishly. Alan was ignoring him but he kept singing right to him until Alan finally looked back, laughing.

When the song ended, Alan announced, trying to go right into the next song, “And now, in keeping with the dark theme…”

Séan looked at him forlornly, “I feel like we just broke up!”

“Time for some make-up shagging!” declared Alan.

“I wasn’t planning to go that far!” said Séan, wide-eyed and laughing.

Then Alan began to sing the tune of the Folger’s coffee commercial “The best part of breaking up…” It was a panic! He had to explain where it was from and sang the real words – “the best part of waking up is coffee in your cup!”

Séan cracked up. “Well ladies and gentlemen, I bet you didn’t expect that tonight!”
The jovial mood continued with Alan introducing the next song as one where “the speaker’s spirit is broken in this song, a man so desperate that he says, “If the devil would take her…”  The audience was into
Scolding Wife, singing along and my lovely husband was singing it to me, the cheeky devil. He even patted my butt while singing “If the devil would take her!” He was in rare form, that’s for sure!
Intro aside, the arrangement for Long Lost Love just gets better each time I hear it, though. The band seems to have embraced the reggae vibe to this song. I think they were fighting it in the beginning of the tour for Fortune’s Favour, but tonight everyone’s instrument sounded great and the harmonies were spot on. Plus, you gotta love the lyrics in the chorus. I love the whistle intro, and Bob was playing whistle and shaker at the same time! I noticed things tonight I never did before. I don’t know whether I just wasn’t paying attention before or what. Sometimes I get into a zone and I’m just in my own little world during the concert.
Tonight I was a full participant, not zoning out at all. Or at least not much. Now, I think that’s amazing as I was right in the front row center, a most unusual place for me in recent years. I’m usually Stage Bob.

And tonight I was right in between Séan and Alan. Alan came right out to the edge of the stage in front of me several times. I could have tied his shoelaces together if I had been inclined. He was that close.
Alan was trying to get Sean to mess up I suppose, but he really did look like he was sleeping. I guess the "marathon" tired him out!

He was all about enlisting Murray's help too. But Sean didn't let it mess him up.
Kris didn't try too hard to make Bob make an error. I like this photo - dueling accordions.
